Julio Mario Santo Domingo Jr. was the eldest son of Julio Mario Santo Domingo and Edalia Braga. He was passionate about literature throughout his life, resulting in a degree in literature from Columbia University as well as a degree in law from Pantheon-Assas University. He was especially enamored of French literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries later in his life and was a collector of manuscripts and printed books.
He followed in his father’s footsteps and became the director of the Santo Domingo Group, a Columbian conglomerate which contains more than 100 companies throughout the world and is incredibly influential in his home country of Columbia.
Julio married Vera Rechulski and had two children, Tatiana Santo Domingo and Julio Mario Santo Domingo III. He passed away in March of 2009 from cancer and is survived by two half brothers, Alejandro Santo Domingo and Andres Santo Domingo.
