Lauren Santo Domingo Attends FIT Gala

The Fashion Institute of Technology held its annual gala a few weeks ago, and Lauren Santo Domingo was in good company with fashion’s elites.  The gala benefitted the FIT’s foundation which gives scholarships and support to young designers.  Attendees included actress Jessica Chastain and model Karolina Kurkova, and even Miss America Mallory Hagan.

Lauren, who used to be Lauren Davis before she married Andres Santo Domingo a few years ago in a lavish Colombian wedding ceremony,   seemed to be stag for this event but definitely was not starved for entertainment.  Costume designer Isabel Toledo said the event was “the best people watching” you could find.  Over 500 fashion enthusiasts were in attendance, and the benefit raise $1.2 million for the foundation.

The Santo Domingo Family are definitely the king and queen of the socialite scene.  Both of them are frequent hosts and attendees of various elite parties and charity benefits.  Sarah Jessica Parker recently wore the same dress Lauren was seen in several months earlier.  Andres  hosted a dinner for Conservation International in front of Hillary Clinton and Harrison Ford last month.  The couple is not only fund and beautiful, but setting an example for the social community in New York and beyond.

Lauren Santo Domingo named one of the most influential New Yorkers

Lauren Santo Domingo was recently named one of the most influential New Yorkers of the last quarter century.  The list, complied by the Observer, chronicles the “dealmakers, dreamers and visionaries” of New York.  People who “moved the needle” and who effected real change in New York in something significant.

Lauren Santo Domingo was named a “digital-age” socialite because of her role in giving the job of socialite a 21st century update.  Not only has she managed to stay within the public eye without embarrassing herself publicly or succumbing to the siren call of the reality television show, but she has been wildly successful.  She recently co-founded Moda Oprandi, a fashion startup that lets members buy looks right off of the runway for a cost.  She is a fashion editor for Vogue, and has been on more charity and non-profit event boards than most people can even name.

And unlike some other socialites who keep out of the public digital eye, Lauren has “managed to bring Gilded Age respectability back to the “Manhattan socialite” moniker while still embracing (and properly using) social media platforms.”

Lauren Santo Domingo is the daughter of a Poland Spring executive and an heiress in her own right, but it was her marriage to Andres Santo Domingo that really catapulted her into the limelight.  Andres Santo Domingo is the son of one of the richest men in Columbia, and Lauren’s marriage to him took place in a lavish ceremony in Caragena, Columbia- often deemed one of the first real society weddings of the century.
